Blessings on my body, who breathes.

Thank you to my body,

Who runs, tastes, swims,

Kisses, hugs, holds

And lets go.

Bless my beloved body, that is

My home, journey, ship,

My giver of joy, my godly gift, deliverer of experience.

Thank you to my body, who gives

Sickness and health,

Wakefulness and rest,

A soaring heart and crushing sorrow,

Life and, one day, death.

To my body –

Thank you for my skin, so sensitive,

Thank you for my lips, that kiss and eat,

Thank you for my cheeks that crinkle in a smile,

Pleasure in the million little muscles.

Thank you for my throat that sings, and sobs,

Thank you for my tongue that speaks and licks,

Thank you for my belly that digests, filling me with power,

Thank you for my back that feels the touch of fingertips,

Or the inside of a soft t-shirt, or the sun.

Oh, my beautiful body –

Thank you for soccer,

Thank you for swimming in open water,

Thank you for snowboarding,

Thank you for sex,

Thank you for my legs that run and my arms that stretch.

Thank you for massages, giving and receiving,

Thank you for muscles and heavy lifting,

Thank you for heart’s faithful beating,

Thank you, body, for growing and changing…

Thank you for dancing,

Thank you for living,

Thank you for my breath.

Blessings on my body,

I’m blessed.

This is by far my favorite Body poem so far. From all the years of focusing on my own healing and doing mind-body-centered phychotherapy, I have found some images, but not anything expressed in words that went this deep. I bless you, Rachel, for helping me bless my body.
